Classic Australian stories ‘The Adventures of the Bottersnikes and Gumbles’ comes to the Seven Network
In a far away forgotten valley, heaped with long abandoned junk, a timeless battle rages between good and evil… and also between squashy and scaly, happy and grumpy, clever and wily… handsome and plain, old ugly. This is the land of Bottersnikes and Gumbles… Considered a classic of Australian children’s literature, Bottersnikes and Gumbles, created by S.A. Wakefield and Desmond Digby, was published between 1967 and 1989 in Australia and the U.K. The book series became widely known for its humour, absurdity, playful language and sense of the ridiculous – a combination that immediately captured the hearts and minds of children worldwide. The series of four stories is set in the landscape of the Australian bush, where human junk has been dumped and left to rot, and recounts various conflicts between the lazy, destructive Bottersnikes who wallow in the rusting trash, and good-natured, hardworking Gumbles who prefer clean streams and the green of trees.
The Bottersnikes and Gumbles series will launch on 7TWO and screen from 18 – 31 December at the time slot of 7.30 – 8am.
The series will also be available View on Demand on the 7 Yahoo platform.
And then the series will run again in the New Year until the rest of the series is delivered in May 2016.
On 3 December Channel 7 are also launching a new online kids platform called Kids PLUS. The Bottersnikes and Gumbles series will feature heavily in this launch with 4 episodes available to view on demand through this platform from 8 December as a sneak peek.
A Bottersnikes and Gumbles microsite is being built within the Kids PLUS platform for the audience to interact with the series.
Kids PLUS will continue to upload episodes once the show has launched on TV with activity increasing in 2016.
